One of the many questions you could be asked (and one of the most commonly asked) is “How would you describe yourself?” or, “Tell me about yourself.” This might seem like a filler question to provide you with an opportunity to talk about yourself, but in reality, this is one of the most important questions of the  interview process.

When interviewers ask this question, they are looking to see what information you provide about your qualities and characteristics that align with the skills and qualities needed to succeed in the role you are applying for.

Here is a list of responses that you can use in your next interview to give a good impression and stand out from your competition. Massage each response to better reflect your unique value and how you will meet the needs of the job.

1.- I am a self-starter

You do not have to wait until someone tells you what to do once you have a clear idea of what the task or goal is, you can determine the best way to accomplish it.

People usually deliver better results whenever they are doing something they enjoy, rather than something they don’t. Convey that the work inspires your curiosity and drive.

You believe in the value of collaboration and are comfortable working side by side with other people. You look for win-win solutions to challenges and value a give and take approach.

5.- I am driven by ambition.

You are always looking for opportunities to grow and improve yourself and your work, keeping your eyes on the next goal. This is a characteristic that most employers are looking for when hiring new people because they know ambition is essential for the success and growth of a company. You can tie this to ongoing self-improvement and a belief in lifelong learning.

Although this might not be a priority for all jobs, it is always good to have the interest of the client at heart. That said, wanting to learn about problems and determining appropriate solutions is applicable to most jobs.
